Teleconference Series
The NAMA Student Work Group offers a monthly live audio conference with a noted Ayurvedic practitioner who presents a topic of interest to students of Ayurveda. The seminars occur on the 4th Monday of each month at 6 PM PT |7 PM MT | 8 PM CT |9 PM ET. Members of NAMA as well as the general public are warmly invited to attend these free teleconferences.
Note that NAMA has not evaluated any of the information presented in these talks. The views expressed are those of the presenter, and do not necessarily reflect the viewpoint of NAMA. These lectures are offered as an opportunity for students to hear various views on topics related to Ayurveda; NAMA does not endorse any specific presenter or topic.

Dr. Rucha Kelkar, BAMS, MPT is the Director of Ayurbliss - Ayurveda Wellness for mind, body and spiritual health, located in Foster City, CA, and Irvine, CA, offering personalized health consultations, panchakarma, Ayurvedic workshops and seminars. She has been a teacher for leading Ayurveda schools, educator and clinician for over 10 years. Dr. Kelkar has been honored for her conference presentations, and has written for various Ayurveda magazines and other publications. Dr. Kelkar is also a licensed physical therapist and has a master’s degree in physical therapy.

Devi Mueller is a graduate of the California College of Ayurveda with certification as a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist. She completed the Master of Ayurveda program through the International Vedic Hindu University, with a focus on Samkhya and Yoga Philosophy in 2009. She served as President of the Board of Directors of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association from 2008 through 2010 and continues as a Member on the Board of Directors. Devi has been instrumental in producing many of the NAMA Conferences as well as supporting the work of CCA in Southern California. Devi is in private practice in Seal Beach, California. She has been studying and practicing numerology, astrology, meditation, and yoga for the past 25 years.

Aromatic Botanical Medicine and Ayurveda-Aromatherapy
Marisa Laursen, CAS, PKS, AYT, CMT

Marisa Laursen is a senior faculty member of the California College of Ayurveda and has a well established Ayurvedic practice, Shanti Ayurveda, in Chino Hills, California. She is a certified Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist, and she completed her post graduate training with Dr. Geetha S.R., BAMS, ND, of the Sree Sankara Ayurveda Hospital in Kerala, India. Marisa is also a Certified Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist and has received certification in Yoga Nidra. Marisa believes that, in addition to her teaching commitments and clinical practice, a significant part of her mission is to make the wisdom of Ayurveda accessible to the public through her public speaking and educational seminars.

Cancer and Ayurveda
Dr. Marc Halpern, DC, CAS, PKS, (Ayurvedacharya)

Dr. Halpern is the founder and president of the California College of Ayurveda. He is one of the pioneers of Ayurveda in the West and is considered to be a pre-eminent practitioner and teacher of Ayurveda in the United States. Dr. Halpern is a contributing writer to several popular books on Ayurveda and holistic medicine and has written two textbooks on Ayurveda. His own remarkable story of personal healing was featured in the national magazine Spirituality and Health. He is a co-founder of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association.

Dr. Ashlesha Raut, BAMS, MD(Ay), NC

Dr. Raut is an integrative Ayurvedic practitioner, nutritional consultant, and health educator. She is classically trained in Ayurveda from the prestigious Mumbai University in India. Dr. Raut has been practicing Ayurveda for more than a decade; she serves on the faculty at Dinacharya Institute, New York, NY, and the Sai Ayurvedic College of Miami, Florida. Based on her years of experience studying, practicing, and teaching yoga, she will explore the Ayurvedic perspective of asanas and their role in management of doshic imbalances and amelioration of various health conditions.

Ayurvedic Beauty Secrets

Cynthia Copple is Dean of Mount Madonna Institute College of Ayurveda. She is Past President and a Founding Board Member of NAMA. Cynthia has been an Ayurvedic Practitioner since l983. With over 30 years of clinical and teaching experience, she is a teacher and author of many articles on Ayurveda. Cynthia serves as President of Lotus Herbs and Director of Lotus Holistic Health Institute in Capitola.

The Alchemy of Consciousness

Arun is a Diplomate in Ayurvedic Sciences and a longtime certified yoga therapist/teacher. He has clinical practices in West Hollywood and Dana Point, where he sees clients and works through yoga therapy, Ayurveda and Vedic psychosomatic therapies. He can also be found teaching yoga and pranayama at Liberation Yoga, Dancing Shiva in LA, and Pacific Ashtanga Shala in Dana Point. Dr. Stansbury is a Naturopathic Physician and a co-founder of the Botanical Medicine Academy. She has been practicing alternative holistic medicine for over 20 years and is entering her 24th year as the Chair of the Botanical Medicine Department and as an Associate Professor of Botanical Medicine at the National College of Natural Medicine, where she teaches pharmacology, Materia Medica and Medicinal Plant Chemistry. Her current passion is teaching Ethno-botany and leading students on trips to the Andes and the Manu region of the Peruvian Amazon to learn more about the healing traditions of the local tribal communities.

Exploring the Gayatri Mantra
Dr. Bhaswati Bhattacharya, MD, MPH

Dr. Bhattacharya shares insights and deeper meanings of the Gayatri Mantra with relevance to Ayurveda. Dr. Bhattacharya trained as an allopathic MD, then by gurukula in India, at AYU Academy/Seattle, Kerala Ayurveda Academy, and Sai College in Miami. She practices holistic family medicine in Manhattan, emphasizing Ayurveda. She serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Weill-Cornell Medical College and was Director of Research at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. Currently, she directs The DINacharya Institute in NYC, teaching Ayurveda to healthcare providers and wellness professionals. She served on the NAMA board of directors from 2008 through 2011, and founded the Seminars in Ayurveda teleconferences.
